399 follows the life of the most famous bear in the world, Grizzly #399, as she attempts to raise an unusually large litter of four cubs to adulthood. Amidst a warming climate, human encroachment, and the looming threat of losing protected status under the Endangered Species Act, a mother bear makes increasingly unexpected — and consequential — choices to protect her family.

On Tuesday October 22, Grizzly 399 was struck and killed by a vehicle on the roadside south of Jackson, WY. The filmmaking team is saddened by this sudden loss and our hearts are with our friends and collaborators in Jackson and beyond. We are grateful to be a part of sharing 399's incredible life through our films 399: Queen of the Tetons and PBS Nature Grizzly 399: Queen of the Tetons. We hope her legacy continues to inspire a respect for her species and our shared habitat.
